letter from John to grandma
January 3, 1963
Dear Grandma,
Thank you very much for the wonderful printing press. It can be used for so many things, cards, invitations, notices. I am starting a newspaper, too, and as soon as I get an issue out, I will send one to you. I am going to call it the “Mukluck Telegraph.” (Not original!) I can’t think up any good names myself! In it is going to be news of home, school, etc. I will get a lot of use, fun, and experience from it, and I already have. You couldn’t have chosen a better gift.
We all had a wonderful Christmas. Mother and Dad went out on New Year’s Eve, and had lots of fun. We had a Christmas play at school. Everyone enjoyed it.
We just got back to school from Christmas vacation. This is our second day back in school.
A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please write soon. Love, John.
P.S. More news will be in the newly formed newspaper, “The Mukluck Telegraph!”
