*Adding wood ends onto the Jamesway (circa 1968?)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I cannot find reference in mother’s letters to when the extra canvas sections of the Jamesway were removed and the wooden ends were built onto it.  I think the end facing the valley, the living room end, was added on some time first, and these pictures of Dad building are of the bedroom end.  I have no memory of any of the building processes.

From the looks of it, Steven must be 3 or 4 — which would make these pictures in 1968 or 1969, very close to when the oldest child, John, left home.  I had no idea that end was added on so LATE!  The section in the middle is the original 5 sections of canvas Jamesway.  Dad lifted up the walls and put in windows and added wood to them.  He also covered the Jamesway roof.  The house was never improved past this point.  This is what it looked like for at least the next 20-25 years until Mother sold this/her piece of the homestead.

Maybe 1968? Dad with his pipe adding on the bedroom end to the Jamesway.

Ends are on the Jamesway, section in the middle is "improved" original canvas Jamesway. Behind the house is 'my Angel on the mountain top'
